Corinne Heidemann , 82, passed away on Oct. 9, 2015, in Eagle River. Funeral services will be held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Anchorage on Oct. 15, 2015, with a viewing at 10 a.m. and a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Internment will follow at National Cemetery Fort Richardson at 1 p.m.

Francesca “Frances” Ann Colombo, 88, died Aug. 29, 2015, at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C. She became ill while attending a family reunion in North Carolina.

An intimate ceremony for family was held on Sept. 5, 2015, in New Bern, N.C. A celebration of life will be held in Homer at a time to be announced via family contacts or Francesca’s commemorative website.

Alan Robert Kelly, 59, died Sept. 12, 2015, at Providence Anchorage Medical Center of a massive stroke.

“Known both as Alan and Kelly, he was a people person who made friends easily and kept them for life,” his family said.

A gathering was held to celebrate his life prior to spreading his ashes on the waters of the Anchor River, one of his favorite fishing spots.

Garland Earl Blanchard, 66, died Aug. 23, 2015, in Homer.  

Garland was born June 25, 1949, in Bandon, Ore., to Harold and Jessie Blanchard. They later moved to Bay City, Ore.  Garland had two brothers, Boyd Blanchard, Harold Blanchard Jr., and one sister, Corrine Gay Davidson.

Susan Ann Gibson died at home on Aug. 23, 2015, in the middle of a sunny afternoon. She was born in Salem, Ore., on March 12, 1952, to Elvin and Elaine Barrowcliff. She was the youngest of three. Her father and brother Wayne live in Homer, and her oldest brother, Bob, lives in Castle Rock, Wash. Her first job was picking strawberries for commercial growers in Oregon.

Homer resident Nancy Branch, 76, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.

A celebration of her life will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at the Kachemak Community Center.

Lora Jean (Howe) Olofson, 60, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Custer, S.D., on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, with her husband at her side. Lora visited Homer frequently to see her mother and sister.

Former Homer mayor Wayne Leroy Kessler, 73, died on Aug. 30, 2015, after a valiant battle with Huntington’s disease. 

“He has graduated to eternity,” his family said. “His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.”

Pioneer Alaskan Lolomi “Aloma” White, 86, died Aug. 15, 2015, at South Peninsula Hospital. A scattering of her ashes will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, on the Homer Spit. Anyone who wishes to come say anything for her, or just be there, is welcome.

Bradley Wilfer Dickey, 76, died on June 17, 2015, in an unexplained car crash.

Brad was born to Adah Christiansen and Wilfer Dickey on Jan. 14, 1936, in Worthington, Minn. An accomplished lad from an early age, Brad was an acolyte, a classical pianist and an Eagle Scout. He loved to show champion Tennessee walking horses throughout the Midwest.

“He was a loving husband and father, Las Vegas Security entrepreneur, Western Airlines executive, Alaskan pioneer and fisherman,” his family said.

Pioneer Homer resident Robert “Bob/Bobby” Campbell, 74, died from throat cancer on Aug. 11, 2015, at Hospice House in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by his family. A celebration of life was held in Spokane, Wash., on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015. As he wished, his ashes will be taken back to his childhood home in Homer next spring.

Joanne Joy Hart, 79, died peacefully July 25, 2015, in Anchorage at her home 
surrounded by her family. 

A memorial service is at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at the 
Alaska Zoo Gateway Hall, 4731 O’Malley Road, in Anchorage. There will 
be a second memorial service with family and friends in Washington state 
later this fall. 

Patricia Ann Arnold

Patricia Ann Arnold, 70, died July 26, 2015, in Anchorage of natural causes. Services are at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church. A full obituary will follow in next week’s Homer News.

Zak Krom

Zak Krom, 24, died June 25, 2015, near Naknek. A memorial is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the Seafarers Memorial on the Homer Spit. A reception follows at 4 p.m. at the Best Western Bidarka Inn.

“Please come and honor Zak with laughter and love. Bring your best Zak stories,” his family said.

Homer educator Elizabeth Ann Johnson, 76, died of natural causes at her home on July 15, 2015. A memorial service for Liz is at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church. There will be time for sharing memories with her family.

She was born Nov. 1, 1938, in Longview, Wash., to the Carters. Liz was raised in Washington and Oregon. She moved to Homer with her husband, Bill, and two Irish setters in 1965.

Kathleen Margaret Patsch Walls

Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Kathleen Walls, 66, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 24, 2015, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage after a lengthy illness.

Born Kathleen Margaret Patsch, April 13, 1949, in Klamath Falls, Ore., to parents Margaret Miller Patsch and Max Patsch, Kathleen was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Klamath in 1967.

Sandra J. Newton, 77, died July 16, 2015. Her ashes will be spread and memories shared at Bear Creek, a place she had fond memories of.

She is survived by her husband, George (Ray) Newton; her four children, Todd, Mike, Mark and Donald Slaughter; her grandchildren, Chad, Angel, Mathew, Michael, Nichol, Trevor, Teagan, Mischa and Kiano; great grandchildren, Jesse, Caleb, Damien, Dakota, Desiree, Devon, Chase and Lily; and daughters-in-law Cindy, Supatta and Tara.
