Bureau of Highway Patrol Troopers at 9:41 p.m. made a traffic stop on a 53-year-old Kasilof man driving a 1999 GMC sport utility vehicle near Mile 137 Sterling Highway in Ninilchik. Troopers arrested the man for DUI.
Troopers at 2:14 p.m. received numerous 911 calls of a crash near Mile 153 Sterling Highway near Stariski Creek. Troopers said a 51-year-old Utah man driving a silver Toyota Corolla heading north cross the center line and side swiped a 2007 Coachman motorhome driven by a 55-year-old Michigan man. The driver side of both vehicles was torn open. The Utah man was taken to South Peninsula Hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. His passenger, a 48-year-old Utah woman, and a 56-year-old Michigan woman in the motorhome, also were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The highway was open to one-lane traffic as troopers investigated the crash and traffic was hindered until the scene was cleared at 7:30 p.m.
Troopers at 8:20 p.m. received a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of two four-wheeler drivers thought to be impaired driving in the Ninilchik area. Troopers located one driver, a 49-year-old Ninilchik woman, riding a 1992 Honda ATV near Milepost 135.5 Sterling Highway and arrested her for driving under the influence. She was taken to the Homer Jail.
