July 11

A caller at 12:49 p.m. reported the driver of a belly-dump truck turned right from the left hand lane on Pioneer Avenue and almost collided with a car. The caller said the truck headed north.

A woman at 2:15 p.m. reported her honey bees swarmed away from her hive on Bonanza Avenue and might be in the area.

A caller at 2:53 p.m. reported a woman was shoplifting at a Bunnell Avenue store.

A man at 3 p.m. reported smoke in the Svedlund Street area. Firefighters investigated and determined the fire operator had a burn permit and it was under control.

A person at 5:16 p.m. made a 911 call of a person with binoculars acting suspiciously on the Sterling Highway.

A caller at 6:20 p.m. reported a 52-year-old woman violated conditions of release at a Homer Spit Road address. Police responded and issued the woman a summons for violating conditions of release.

A caller at 10:45 p.m. reported a reckless driver on the Spit beach. Police contacted the driver and issued a warning for bad driving habits and expired registration.

July 12

A caller at 12:04 a.m. reported a boat sinking in the harbor. Police advised the harbormaster.

Police at 12:20 a.m. contacted a 20-year-old man driving on the Sterling Highway and arrested him for driving while license suspended.

A man at 2:05 a.m. reported a drunk woman causing a disturbance at a Spit campsite. 

A man at 3:40 a.m. reported a disturbance at a Spit campsite. Police responded.

Police at 4:15 a.m. did a welfare check on a man lying in a parking lot on Lake Street. Police arrested a 33-year-old man for violating conditions of probation.

A caller at 10:30 a.m. reported the suspect in a theft returned to the area on Heath Street. Police issued a summons for theft to a 51-year-old man.

A person at 11:20 a.m. made a 911 call of unrestrained children in a car on East End Road.

A caller at 11:30 a.m. reported a car with a load not properly secured and trash falling from the back on Pioneer Avenue. 

A caller at 2:50 p.m. reported a man violating conditions of release. Police went to a Lakeshore Drive address and arrested a 28-year-old man for violating conditions of release and resisting arrest.

A caller at 4:45 p.m. reported a theft at an Ocean Drive address. Police charged a 19-year-old woman with third-degree theft.

A caller at 7:22 p.m. asked police to patrol Kachemak Drive property and issue trespass notices to people there. 

A caller at 8:36 p.m. reported a woman standing in a parking lot on Main Street who appeared to need assistance. Police responded and the woman was taken to South Peninsula Hospital.

A person at 9:20 p.m. made a 911 call that an asphalt truck lost its rear axle and blocked traffic on the Sterling Highway. Police responded.

A man at 11:10 p.m. made a 911 call of a dispute at a Bunnell Avenue address. Police responded and issued a trespass notice to a person for one year.

A caller at 11:10 p.m. asked police to do a field search for an airplane reported overdue. Police found the plane at a dock off Lampert Loop Road. All was OK.

July 13

Police at 3:16 a.m. did a security check of property on Kachemak Drive. A car with people was contacted and police determined the car was on the public side of beach property.

Police at 4:21 a.m. contacted a man without a shirt and waving a stick in a Pioneer Avenue parking lot. Police provided the man transportation home.

Police at 4:47 a.m. contacted a man slumped over in his car at a Skyline Drive overlook.

A woman at 7:45 p.m. asked police to do a welfare check of a Main Street neighbor. Police asked EMTs to respond.

A woman at noon asked police to issue a trespass notice to a person from a Tamara Street address. Police did so.

A woman at 1:55 p.m. reported a boat being launched in a restricted area on Beluga Lake. Police responded and found all was OK.

A woman at 2:10 p.m. reported money was stolen from her car from a business four days ago and heard it was found at a Sterling Highway business.

Police at 4:39 p.m. contacted a 54-year-old woman driving on Main Street and issued her a summons for driving while license revoked and not having insurance.

A man at 5:20 p.m. reported theft from a Bunnell Avenue property.

Police at 11:25 p.m. did a security check of a Kachemak Drive beach and contacted several people. The people left.

July 14

A caller at 2:53 a.m. reported a loud group of people with a bonfire on the Spit beach. Police couldn’t locate the group.

A man at 6:29 a.m. reported an eagle caught in garbage. Police responded and found the eagle freed itself.

A woman at 12:30 p.m. reported she thought someone took her iPhone from her Grubstake Avenue home.

A man at 5:13 p.m. reported a driver in a Dodge pickup truck with a door hanging off was driving and speeding on the Poopdeck Trail. Police couldn’t find the truck.

Police at 8:29 p.m. warned a person for driving on the shoulder of the road on the Spit.

A caller at 10:58 p.m. reported an abandoned tent at Bishop’s Beach. Police impounded the tent and the owner later retrieved it.

July 15

Homer Volunteer Fire Department officials at 9:29 a.m. reported receiving several calls of a bear cub in a travel trailer on Lake Street. Police responded but could not find the travel trailer or bear cub.

A woman at 10:53 a.m. reported a pickup with a door hanging off driving on the Poopdeck Trail.

A man at 11:49 a.m. reported he was hit on the head with a rock and that he stabbed another man on the Spit. Police and EMTs responded and arrested a man for being a fugitive from justice.

A woman at noon reported a rock fell off a dump truck and smashed her windshield on East End Road.

A woman at 4:20 p.m. reported a missing child, a boy, on the Spit. Police and harbor officers were to be on the lookout. The boy was later found.

A man at 4:44 p.m. reported a woman threatened him on the Spit. Police later contacted the man and determined the call was unfounded and the caller was making the threats.

A woman at 6:06 p.m. reported someone stole her truck key from her Grubstake Avenue home.

Police at 7:46 p.m. contacted a 32-year-old woman driving on West Hill Road and issued her a summons for driving while license revoked.

A caller at 9:07 p.m. reported two “ruffians” had an expensive bike on the Spit and he assumed the bike had been stolen.

A caller at 10:15 p.m. reported four men smoking marijuana at the Karen Hornaday Park playground.

July 16

A harbor officer at 7:56 a.m. reported a drunk man staggering near a car with the alarm going off. The man had lost his keys. Police requested a tow truck.

Police at 3:07 p.m. contacted people with a car on the prohibited side of Bishop’s Beach at the high-tide mark. One man was drunk and had a revoked license.

A man at 3:14 p.m. reported someone threw a rock through his door window on Cityview Avenue. Police responded. Nothing was taken.

July 17

Police at 3:05 a.m. contacted campers setting off fireworks on the Spit. The campers were told not to continue setting off fireworks.

A woman at 11:23 a.m. said she heard from a third party that her ex-boyfriend threatened her and might be in the area.

A man at 2:20 p.m. reported his wallet was stolen the week before and now someone was using his credit cards online.

A caller at 3:11 p.m. reported a minor was assaulted at a Danview Avenue home. Police responded and arrested a 44-year-old woman.

A caller at 6:26 p.m. reported an unattended 4-year-old boy at Karen Hornaday Park. Police responded.

A man at 9:44 p.m. reported an unattended child in a car at a Sterling Highway business. Police responded but could not find the child.

July 18

A person at 4:18 a.m. made a 911 call of drug activity on Fairview Avenue.
