Cleaning up Homer

A VW hubcap is one item collected during Cleanup Day that Marshall Fuller, left, and Andrew Anderson of Boy Scout Troop 365 decided not to throw away.

Prizes for Cleanup Day, an annual event organized by the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center with 117 participants this year, went to:

• Individual-family: first, Shirley Fedora; second, Jenny Lemieux; third, the Sweeney family.

• Group: first, HoWL with 68 participants, 132 bags of recycling, 705 bags of garbage and 42 tires; second, Boy Scout Pack 555; third, Boy Scout Troop 555. 

• Bicycles: Highley Watson, Diane Lemieux, Haley Owen and Carleigh Nevak.
