Symphony of Seafood winners announced

A sockeye salmon product won the grand prize at the Alaska Symphony of Seafood Gala in Anchorage Feb. 23.

Copper River Seafood’s Zesty Grill Sockeye Salmon won the grand prize and two others — the Anchorage people’s choice award and first place in the retail category. The top prize in the food service category went to Alaskan Sablefish Unagi Style, made by Triad Fisheries Ltd. That also took home the people’s choice award at the Seattle event Feb. 15.

AquaCuisine’s Lit’l Sammies won the top prize for a smoked product. Second place in that category went to past-winner Trident Seafoods Corp.’s Smoked Sockeye Salmon: Sea Salt Nova Style.

Trident also won second place in the food service category for its Seafest Alaskan Salmon Loins. Chang International’s Sealectables Cod Fish n’ Sticks took third.

CRS won second place in the retail category for its Roasted Garlic Alaskan Cod. Orca Bay Seafoods took third for its Teriyaki Style Sockeye Salmon Seafood Burger.

The 2013 event was the 20th annual Alaska Symphony of Seafood Gala.

Winners receive booth space at the International Boston Seafood Show, and roundtrip airfare to get there.
