HCOA offers art camp
Explore traditional and contemporary music styles, instruments, and fine arts in a fun environment for the Homer Council on the Arts HomerARTS Camp, to be held June 16-20 at West Homer Elementary School. Classes include bluegrass, folk, old-time, rock, pop, jazz and blues music plus improvisational theatre, ceramics, visual art and dance. The class is offered in partnership with Homer-grown musician Andrew Vait and the Bluegrass Camp for Kids. For ages 6-18, the camp is 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 16-20. The fee is $275. An adult class is at 7-9 p.m. June 19 with instruction and a band jam. The fee is $45. An open mic with camp students and staff is 6:30 p.m. June 17 at K-Bay Caffe. A staff concert is at 7 p.m. June 19 at HCOA. Camp students get in free; admission is $10. A student performance is 3:30 p.m. June 20 at West Homer Elementary School.
