The Pratt Museum has issued a call for art for its annual Facing the Elements outdoor show. First started in 1994, the exhibit combines work by guest artists, community artists and local youth. It runs from June through September, with art installed on the forest trail behind the museum. As the Pratt proceeds with its plan to expand the museum, this will be the final summer for Facing the Elements until the new museum is built.
Artwork must be removable, safe to visitors, stable and compatible with the environment. For the safety of curious children, adults and animals, the art cannot include sharp or jagged objects. Sculptures may be created on-site or at home.
The fee is $10 for adults and waived for youth in grades 12 or under. Sign up at the admission desk. The deadline for installation and artist statement is 6 p.m. June 12, with an opening reception at 5 p.m. June 14. For more information contact Scott Bartlett, curator of exhibits, at 435-3335 or Ryjil Christianson, education director, at 235-8635 or email email@example.com.
