The Homer volleyball team finished third at the Southeast Super Slamma Jamma Volleyball Tournament in Sitka on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
In pool play Thursday and Friday, Homer finished 11-5.
The Mariners defeated Mt. Edgecumbe 25-18, 25-21, lost to Nome 26-24, beat Nome 25-22, beat Juneau-Douglas 25-13, lost to Juneau 25-17, beat Ketchikan 25-14, 25-12, beat Grace Christian 25-18, 25-16, lost to Valdez 25-12, beat Valdez 25-23, lost to Sitka 25-18, 25-18, and beat Monroe Catholic 25-20, 27-17.
That result in pool play put Homer in the King Salmon Division on Saturday.
Homer started out bracket play by losing to Sitka. The Mariners then came back to defeat Mt. Edgecumbe and Nome for third place.
Homer head coach Ian Overson wrote in a text message that it was a great tournament for his team.
He wrote Rebecca Trowbridge and Alysha Nyvall led in assists, while Channing Lowney and Reilly Sue Baker led in kills. Leading in digs were Bella Loboy, Baker and Lowney.
The coach also wrote that blocking improved tremendously throughout the tournament. Maddy Miotke, Maya Diaz, Gracey Bradshaw, Nyvall and Lowney all contributed in that department.
