The visiting Nikiski volleyball team defeated Houston 25-17, 25-19 and 25-14 on Friday and Redington 25-14, 25-19 and 25-14 on Saturday in Southcentral Conference play.
The Bulldogs end the regular season 14-6 in nontournament play and 8-2 in the league.
Maggie Grenier had 14 digs and 10 assists for the Bulldogs on Friday against the Hawks, while Kailey Stynsberg had 14 digs, Avery Ellis had 11 assists, Mandee Roofe had six blocks and seven kills, and Alexa Iyatunguk had four blocks and seven kills.
Saturday against the Huskies, Iyatunguk had seven kills and four blocks, Evelyn Reichert had 13 kills and two aces, Stynsberg had 27 digs, Avery Ellis had 22 assists and Zoey Ellis had eight kills.
Colony sweeps Soldotna
The visiting Knights defeated the Stars 25-12, 14-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 15-11 on Friday in Northern Lights Conference play, then followed with another 3-2 victory Saturday.
The Stars are now 7-9 in nontournament play and 3-5 in the league, while Colony moves to 5-3 in the league.
Friday, Sadie Lane had a career-high 20 kills for the Stars, also adding four aces. Nicole Dickinson had 39 assists and six aces, while Athena Rossiter had four kills and three aces.
Also for the Stars, Kiara Forkner had 23 digs, Morgan Simac had nine kills and Hallie Fischer had five kills.
Homer sweeps on road
The visiting Homer volleyball team defeated Redington 23-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20 and 15-13 on Friday and Houston 25-15, 25-18 and 27-25 on Saturday in Southcentral Conference play.
The Mariners finish the regular season 4-9 in nontournament play and 4-6 in the league.
Friday, Homer coach Ian Overson texted that his team decided it wanted to win after losing the first two games and pushed hard to take the next three.
“It was a well deserved win at the end of the season,” he wrote.
Channing Lowney had 25 kills and six aces for the Mariners, while Alexandra Casey had eight kills, Addison Grimes had 14 kills and Rebecca Trowbridge had 41 assists.
Saturday, Casey had six kills, Trowbridge had 21 assists and seven aces, and Lowney had nine kills and six aces.
“It was a very good match with some ups and downs but glad we finished the season on a high note,” Overson wrote.
Seward sweeps on road
The Seward volleyball team went on the road to defeat Mountain City Christian Academy on Friday and Grace Christian on Saturday in Southcentral Conference action.
The Seahawks finish the regular season 6-4 in the league and 7-5 in nontournament play.
Southcentral Conference bracket released
The Southcentral Conference tournament bracket was released Monday. The tournament will be at Grace Christian in Anchorage. There will be two automatic state berths up for grabs. There also is an at-large berth in Class 3A.
