The state track and field meet will be held Friday and Saturday at Palmer High School.
Field events start Friday at 9 a.m., while the 3,200-meter runs will start at 11 a.m. The running preliminaries are then at 12:50 p.m.
Saturday, field events start at 9 a.m. while the running finals start at 10:30 a.m.
In Division I, Soldotna’s Katelyn Morrison has the top mark in the high jump, according to athletic.net. Morrison is at 5 feet, 3 inches, with the next mark 2 inches behind.
At Division II, a number of Kenai Peninsula athletes have the top marks in the state headed into the weekend.
Kenai’s Reagan Graves, Homer’s Lukyan Dax and Delta Junction’s LJ Clark are all at 23.34 seconds in the 200.
Kenai’s Greg Fallon leads in the 400 and 800. His 51.90 in the 400 is .31 ahead of Dax. Fallon’s 1:59.46 is .10 ahead of Homer’s Seamus McDonough.
McDonough leads in the 1,600 at 4:26.20, just .24 ahead of Grace Christian’s David Sliwinski.
Kenai’s Daniel McRorie, Robert Hayes, Ransom Hayes and Graves are tops in the 400 relay by .48. That group also has the top 800 relay in the state at 1:35.71, 1.26 seconds ahead.
In the 1,600 relay, Homer’s McDonough, Jonah Mershon, Lukyan Dax and Lance Seneff are at 3:34.93, almost four seconds ahead of the next best time.
Nikiski’s Truit McCaughey, at 46—7, leads the shot put field by almost 4 feet.
In the high jump, a couple of Seward jumpers will be in the mix. Nickolas Ambrosiani and Olin Liljemark both have gone 5—8, as has Zane Robinson of Hutchison.
For Division II girls, Homer’s Eryn Field leads the field at 1:03.01 in the 400.
In the shot put, Ninilchik’s Adelyn McCorison is first at 36—10.25, while Kenai’s Emma Beck is next at 34—8.25
Beck leads the discus at 123—1, about 17 feet better than the next best mark.
Kenai’s 800 relay of Sierra Hershberger, Cara Graves, Malena Grieme and Sophie Tapley has the top time of 1:55.12, .69 better than Sitka.
Seward’s 3,200 relay of Aly Guernsey, Kate Van Buskirk, Juniper Ingalls and Hailey Ingalls leads at 11:04.51, with Anchorage Christian Schools about 13 seconds behind.
