Girls on the Run is an eight-week after school empowerment program for third-fifth grade girls promoting confidence and self respect. The program combines physical training, community service, health education, life skills, goal setting and mentoring relationships. It inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun experience based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Homer’s spring Girls on the Run will start the week of March 22, with days of the week to be announced. The program may meet outdoors. Cheerleading
The Homer High cheerleading team for basketball season had several members named to the all-conference team after this past weekend’s Southcentral Conference basketball tournament, held in Nikiski and Kenai.
Leah Evans, Ally High and Sameah McGhee were named to the all-conference cheer team, while Goldie Hill was named to the good sport team, according to a release from Kenai Athletic Director Jesse Settlemyer.
