High School

Game and event schedules are subject to change.

Football: The football game between Homer and the Nikiski Bulldogs scheduled for this Saturday has been canceled since the central Kenai Peninsula has moved into a high-alert level in terms of the number of COVID-19 cases there. Being in a high alert level shuts down sporting competitions for schools in that region.

Cross-country running: The first scheduled competition for the Homer cross country team was the Ted McKenney XC Invitational at noon on Saturday in Soldotna. That has been canceled due to the central peninsula being at a high-risk COVID-19 alert level. The Homer team will now have a race against Seward at 2 p.m. this Friday at the Tsalteshi Trails.

Volleyball: The Volleyball Jamboree that was scheduled for this Saturday has been altered due to sports being canceled at other participating schools from the central Kenai Peninsula. Schools in Kenai, Nikiski and Soldotna have moved into the high-risk level. The Jamboree is now only against Seward, and will take place on Friday starting at 12:30 p.m. the C team, the JV team playing at 1:30 p.m. and varsity at 2:30 p.m. There will be no spectators and the games will be streamed on the Homer High School YouTube channel.

Swimming: The Alaska School Activities Association has pushed back the start of the swimming season. The 2020-2021 swim and dive season will begin with the first practice on Sept. 2, the first competition date is on Sept. 17, the last regular season/conference tournament competition is on Nov. 28 and the state tournament is from Dec. 4-5.

This article has been updated to correct the day of the volleyball games against Seward. They are on Friday, Aug. 21.
