Soldotna High School’s Kaytlin McAnelly, Dylan Dahlgren and Jordan Strausbaugh led the Kenai Peninsula on the second day of the Big C Relays on Saturday at The Dome in Anchorage.
McAnelly wrapped up the title in the Alaska Airlines Pentathlon, while Strausbaugh won the 800-meter run and Dahlgren won the Lord of the Rings title for the best combined performance in the shot put and discus. Dahlgren also was third in the pentathlon.
Strausbaugh finished at 2 minutes, 23.48 seconds, to defeat the 2:23.95 of runner-up Zoe Chang of Service.
Also in the top six on the girls side from the peninsula were Soldotna’s Gracie Bras in fifth in the 100 at 13.73 seconds, McAnelly in second in the pentathlon 800 at 2:36.40, Homer’s Gracie Miotke in fifth in the 100 hurdles at 18.38 seconds, McAnelly in first in the pentathlon 300 hurdles at 50.73 seconds, Soldotna’s 1,600 relay of Strausbaugh, Annie Burns, Anaulie Sedivy and Ellie Burns in third in 4:23.81, Soldotna’s 100-100-200-400 sprint medley relay team of Bras, Mandi Sisley, Angelina Chavarria and Sedivy in fourth at 2:04.07, and Homer’s 200-200-400-800 sprint medley relay of Leah Evans, Alana Prescott, Brightly Thoning and Elena Badajos in fourth at 4:56.32.
On the boys side, Soldotna’s Nathanael Johnson was second in the 800 at 2:03.88, Dahlgren was fifth in the pentathlon 800 at 2:32.61, Soldotna’s Wyatt Faircloth was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 44.78 seconds, Dahlgren was second in the pentathlon 300 hurdles at 45.76, Soldotna’s 400 meter relay of Faircloth, Leigh Tacey II, James Innes and Johnson was second in 3:36.12, Homer’s 100-100-200-400 sprint medley relay of Liam James, Caleb Evans, Ryan Carroll and Lance Seneff was sixth in 1:48.16, Soldotna’s 200-200-400-800 sprint medley of Faircloth, Innes, Tacey II and Johnson was third in 3:54.01, and Dahlgren was second in the discus at 137 feet, 1 inch.
In late results from Friday, Soldotna’s girls 400 relay team of Sisley, Haiden Wilkinson, Bras and Brianna Ehret was fifth in 56.62, and Soldotna’s boys 400 relay of Isaac Chavarria, Coy Babcock, Daniel McRorie and Jared Williams was sixth in 47.71.
