A number of Kenai Peninsula athletes nabbed top-eight finishes at the Russ Edwards Big C Relays at The Dome in Anchorage on Friday and Saturday. The meet had more than 950 athletes from 34 teams.

The 4,000-meter distance medley relay for the Soldotna girls picked up the lone peninsula title on the day.

The team of Annie Burns, Shiloh Zichko, Sasha Brott and Tania Boonstra won at 13 minutes, 43.06 seconds.

Also for the SoHi girls, Sarah Brown was third in the 100 at 13.20, while Anaulie Sedivy, the defending Division I champion in the 300 hurdles, was third in the 300 hurdles at 48.75.

Burns was eighth in the 400 at 1:04.58.

Kathryn DeBardelaben was seventh in the 3,200 at 12:29.10.

Meg Roberts was fifth in the shot put at 34 feet, 5.5 inches, while Juliet Innes was eighth in the discus at 93—9.

The 1,600 relay of Zichko, Brott, Sedivy and Burns was fourth in 4:17.93.

The 800-meter sprint medley relay of Abriella Werner, Mandi Sisley, Angelina Chavarria and Mia Hannevold was sixth in 2:06.53.

The 1,600-meter sprint medley relay of Brown, Sedivy, Burns and Boonstra was fourth in 4:41.32.

Kevin Steger led the Soldotna boys by finishing third in the discus at 132—0, and fifth in the shot put at 48—0. Ala Tuisaula was eighth in the shot put at 41—7.5 and sixth in the discus at 123—9.

Also for the Soldotna boys, Tyce Escott finished fifth in the 100 at 11.46. William Klein was also fifth in the 110 hurdles at 16.89. In the 300 hurdles, Gabriel Almeida was fourth at 44.18, while Klein was seventh at 45.77.

In the 400 relay, the Stars boys put two teams in the top six. Jared Williams, Andon Wolverton, Leigh Tacey II and William Klein were fifth in 45.61, while Lokeni Wong, Escott, Landon Hinds and Jeren Nash were sixth in 46.18.

In the 1,600 relay, James Innes, Tacey II, Finnley Loop and Nash were seventh in 3:39.67.

In the 800-meter sprint medley relay, Wolverton, Williams, Tacey II and Innes were fifth in 1:40.06.

In the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay, Tacey II, Almeida, Innes and Elijah Jedlicki were third in 3:48.71.

In the 4,000-meter distance medley relay, Jedlicki, Parker Richards, Wesley Johnson and Loop were seventh in 12:03.26.

In the pentathlon, Wyatt Faircloth was fifth in the 100 at 12.19, fifth in the 300 hurdles at 45.53, third in the shot put at 32—5 and fifth in the high jump at 5—0. Faircloth did not finish the event due to injury.

Finally for SoHi, the Mixed Swedish Relay of Sisley, Escott, Hannevold and Brendon Jones was fifth in 2:25.02, and Werner, Wong, Brott and Noble Cassidy were seventh in 2:26.60.

For Nikiski, Truit McCaughey led the way by finishing second in the shot put. McCaughey, who won the Division II state title as a junior last season, had a personal-best throw of 49—4.

Junior Thayne Quiner also got into the top eight in a pair of events for the Bulldogs — sixth in the high jump at 5—4, and eighth in the long jump at 18—7.75.

For Homer, Gracie Miotke competed in the pentathlon, finishing third in the 100 meters at 13.72, sixth in the 800 meters at 3:01.83, first in the 300 hurdles at 49.43, fourth in the shot put at 22—8.25 and sixth in the high jump at 4—0. Miotke, the defending Division II state champ in the 300 hurdles, was fourth in the final pentathlon point totals.

Also for the Mariners, Auden Cress was sixth in the discus at 95—6, the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay of Immi Im, Cassidy Hardyman, Brightly Thoning and Beatrix McDonough was sixth in 4:54.92, and the 4,000-meter distance medley relay of Natalie Keintz, Hannah Klima, Cassidy Carroll and Claira Booz was eighth in 14:48.37.

The Big C Relays also featured some community events. In the men’s 1-mile run, 2015 Kenai Central graduate Jordan Theisen was fourth at 4:17.54.

In the women’s 1-mile run, Taylor Deal, a 2012 graduate of Kenai Central, was fifth in 5:03.1. The race was won by West graduate Anna Dalton in 4:49.40, the fourth-fastest time run by a known Alaska performer according to the Alaska Sports Report. The top time on the list belongs to Deal’s sister, Allie Ostrander, at 4:35.79.

Also in the 1-mile, Julianne Dickerson, a 2006 graduate of Wings Christian Academy, finished seventh in 5:55.0. Dickerson is the defending Kenai River Marathon champion.

In the 300 meters, Homer track coach Bob Ostrom was ninth in 45.20.
