Skyview, Nikolaevsk basketball split

The Nikolaevsk and Skyview basketball teams split Monday night in Nikolaevsk, with the Warriors girls and Panthers boys notching nonconference victories.

The Nikolaevsk girls used solid defense to top Skyview 28-17. Nikolaevsk led 14-12 at halftime, but then allowed just five points in the second half.

Kilina Klaich and Sophia Kalugin had seven points apiece for the Warriors, while Makinna Halverson and Samantha Reynolds led Skyview with four points each.

The boys game was close throughout. The game was tied at 10 after the first period, while the Panthers took a 21-17 lead into the locker room. Skyview held a 31-26 lead after three quarters before holding on for the final eight minutes.

Jacob Carlson paced the Panthers with 15 points, including eight in the final period. Kaleb Henderson chipped in 12 for the Panthers, with 10 coming in the second half.

For Nikolaevsk, Blake Klaich led the way with 29 points — 21 coming in the second half. Eric Mametieff also had 13 points for the Warriors.
