The Soldotna baseball team celebrated senior day Saturday at the Soldotna Little League fields with a 5-0 Northern Lights Conference victory over Palmer.
The Stars won for the ninth straight time to finish the regular season 9-1 in the league and 12-9-2 overall.
The SoHi pitching staff has put up a shutout in four straight games.
Colby Sturman worked the first five innings Saturday, allowing one hit and walking three while striking out eight.
Wyatt Gagnon and Trenton Ohnemus each threw scoreless innings of relief. Gagnon did not give up a hit while walking one and striking out one. Ohnemus yielded two hits and struck out three.
Gagnon led the way at the plate with a two-run home run.
The seniors honored for SoHi were Ohnemus, Brett Hostetler, Easton Hawkins, Ari Miller, Tucker Blough, Sturman, Gagnon and Brenden Theel.
Kenai 14, Redington 4
The Kardinals christened another summer of baseball at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai with a Northern Lights Conference victory that took five innings.
Kenai finishes the regular season 7-3 in the league and 10-3 overall.
Gabe Joanis pitched scoreless and hitless ball for the first two innings, yielding a walk while striking out four.
Jacob Katzenberger pitched the final three innings, giving up four unearned runs on two hits while walking four and striking out three.
Gabe Joanis helped himself by going 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs, while Jacob Joanis had two runs and two RBIs.
Also, Daniel Steffensen had two runs, Braden Smith had three runs, Everett Chamberlain had two RBIs and Logan Mese had two runs.
Homer 5, Houston 2
The host Mariners finished the regular season at 5-5 in the Northern Lights Conference and 10-7 overall after the Saturday victory over the Hawks.
Clyde Clemens was able to hold Houston scoreless until Homer had built a 5-0 lead after the sixth inning.
Clemens went all seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out eight.
Henry Wedvik led Homer at the plate by going 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Preston Stanislaw added a triple, a run and an RBI for Homer.
The Mariners had their senior night Thursday, honoring Wedvik, Weston Marley, Austin Briscoe, Willem Hakala, Jamen Anderson and Stanislaw.
