The Mariners celebrated 10 wrestlers who plan to graduate this Spring on Wednesday night while they dueled the Kenai Kardinals.
The Kardinals only travelled to Homer with five wrestlers. Kenai, who has battled some injuries, scored a win at the 160-pound (weight class) during the dual as Tucker Vann beat Hunter Patton in his first match of the year. It was Kenai’s only win as the Mariners won 75-6.
Senior Seth Inama earned a team-leading eighth technical fall with a 18-3 win. Mose Hayes at 152 earned a 12-4 win over Brandon Kroto. Hayes had only beaten Kroto 4-2 at the Anchorage Christian Schools Invite.
Senior Hunter Harrington pinned Thomas Mathis in a minute (with) his favorite move: a cross face cradle.
The night marked the return of Luciano Fasulo. The two-time state champion has been healing up a knee injury. He earned a forfeit and then a fall over teammate Timmy Hatfield.
Fasulo appears to be close to 100 percent.
Of the 10 Seniors, half of them are ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in Division II. They look forward to continue their winning ways with a match at ACS on today, Thursday, before they compete in the two-day Grace Christian Grappler Invite this weekend.
