The Homer Mariner Girls Varsity Volleyball team continued their strong start to the season last Wednesday, Aug. 24 by winning against the visiting Sitka team.
With the Mariners taking three sets in a row, the scores of the game were 25-22, 25-22, and 25-15.
This Mariners team is energized by their strong senior core, who all performed excellently on Wednesday night. Seniors Brooke Shafer, Isabel Dye and Nevaeh Diaz were the stat leaders for the evening:
Shafer had 8 aces, 24 assists, and 9 digs; Dye finished with 17 kills and 11 digs; Diaz supplied 7 kills for the team.
With games coming thick and fast in this short fall season, the Mariners’ next game is against the Kenai Kardinals, who they were unable to beat earlier in the season, on Friday, Sept. 9, at Kenai Central High School Gym.
