The Kenai Peninsula Region III basketball tournament takes place at the Homer High School this weekend starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The conference will include teams from Grace Christian School in Anchorage, Homer, Kenai, Nikiski and Seward.

According to the tournament bylaws, trophies and awards for the tournament will be provided for the first- and second-place team. There will also be a coaches award for both the boys and girls teams that will be voted on by the coaches. Coaches will also select athletes for recognition on a “good sport team,” an all-region team and the most valuable player.

The following is the schedule for Thursday:

10 a.m. Seward vs. Nikiski, Girls

12 p.m. Kenai Central vs. Nikiski, Boys

2 p.m. Homer vs. Kenai Central, Girls

4 p.m. Seward vs. Homer, Boys

6 p.m. Grace Christian vs. ?, Girls

8 p.m. Grace Christian vs. ?, Boys

The remainder of the schedule will be determined by game results. There will be games starting at 10 a.m. with the last one starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. The championship games will be on Saturday at noon and 2 p.m.
