Juneau hockey notches sweep in Homer

The visiting Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale hockey team swept Homer in Northern Lights Conference action Friday and Saturday at Kevin Bell Ice Arena.

The Crimson Bears won 13-1 Friday and 9-2 Saturday. Homer falls to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Friday, Dylan Sowa had a hat trick to lead the Crimson Bears. Zander Smith, Isaac Phelps and Elliot Welch had two goals each for Juneau, while Caden Morris, Ike Puustinen, Luke Bovitz and Carter Miller added tallies. Cody Thomas scored unassisted for Homer.

Caleb Friend stopped 13 for the Crimson Bears, while Ali Gall made 30 saves for Homer.

Saturday, Welch and Matt Plang had a pair of goals for Juneau. Also scoring were Sowa, Emilio Holbrook, Morris, Loren Platt and Bovitz. Seamus Hatton and Austin Pitzman scored for Homer.

Friend had 13 saves, while Gall had 29.
