Jacoby nabs two 2nds at World Cup

Lydia Jacoby, a 17-year-old senior at Seward High School, finished second in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke at a FINA Swimming World Cup race in Budapest, Hungary, held last Thursday through Saturday.

The event was in a 25-meter pool. Jacoby won the gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in a 50-meter pool.

In Friday’s 100-meter breaststroke, Nika Godun of Russia finished at 1:04.71 to win the race, while Jacoby was second at 1:05.40.

In Saturday’s 50-meter breaststroke, Godun won at 29.81 seconds, while Jacoby was just behind at 29.97 seconds.

On Thursday, Jacoby finished seventh in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:26.18. The race was won by Viktoria Gunes of Turkey in 2:22.23.
