Homer United Football Club members play in Far North Invitation soccer tournament

Homer United Football Club Premier Academy sent four teams to the Far North Invitational at Kincaid Park in Anchorage from July 13-16. This is the fourth year the Homer club has participated in the tournament.

“We made a statement this year with our largest group of players to participate. We had 53 youth from age 7 to 17 at the event this year,” Breanna Hill, vice president for the Homer nonprofit organization, wrote in an email.

“We couldn’t be prouder of these players, they played hard, they had fun and they represented Homer United FC and our community,” she wrote. “We are incredibly thankful to our HUFC players, their families, coaches, team managers and volunteers. A lot of work goes into this program and it’s all not possible without your support.”

Registration for the HUFC Summer 2023 is the largest yet with 280 participants.

The last home game will take place at Homer High School from 4:30-8:30 p.m. July 27 with a “friendlies” event versus the Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club. Soccer friendlies are games between teams in a non-competitive match; they’re simply coming together to play on the fields.

The Homer United Football Club also plans to send two teams to the Alaska Youth Soccer Association State Cup tournament in Fairbanks in early August.
