The host Homer girls and boys basketball teams swept Nikiski on Friday in Class 3A Peninsula Conference play before losing games to Soldotna in Homer on Saturday.
The Mariners girls and boys are at home again this weekend, hosting the Homer Winter Carnival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The Homer girls are 1-3 in the league and 3-9 overall. The Homer boys are 2-2 in the league and 2-12 overall.
Friday, the Homer girls topped the Bulldogs 33-27. Nikiski led 6-5 after a quarter, 14-10 at halftime and 21-20 after three quarters. The Mariners won the final quarter 13-6.
Minadora Reutov had nine for Homer, while Lawson Alexson had eight, Sydney Shelby had seven, Hannah Stonorov and Bethany Engebretsen had four, and Lillie Mae Kuhn had one.
For Nikiski, Avery White had six, Shelby Burman, Maggie Grenier and Ashlynne Playle had five, and Avery Ellis, Emma Weeks and Jessica Perry had two.
The Homer boys topped Nikiski 53-37.
Niko Sulczynski paced the Mariners with 14 points, while Morgan Techie had nine, Lance Seneff had eight, Lucas Story and Nathan Overson had six, Trent Fell had three and Theo McDonough had two.
For Nikiski, Braeden Porter had 13, David Weathers had eight, Drew Handley had seven, Seth Payne had six and Charlie Chamberlain had three.
Soldotna girls 39, Homer 20
The visiting Stars notched a nonconference victory.
Josie Sheridan paced the Stars with 14 points, while Kaytlin McAnelly had seven, Morgan Lemm had six, Katelyn Morrison and Tanner Inman had four, and Anaulie Sedivy and Annie Burns had two.
For Homer, Lawson Alexson had 12, Emily Owens had three, Shelby and Engebretsen had two, and Kuhn had one.
Soldotna boys 61, Homer 37
The visiting Stars came up with a nonconference victory.
For SoHi, Andrew Pieh led the way with 18, while Zac Buckbee, Eli Corbett and Izaiah Gilbert had eight, Jakob Brown had seven, and Cameron Laroque, Jace O’Reagan and Will Inman had four.
Techie paced the Mariners with 14. Seneff had seven, while Story had six, Sulczynski had five, Overson and McDonough had two, and Riley Huffman had one.
The Homer Winter Carnival tournament will be this weekend.
