Homer High School cornerback Jackson Snaric has been nominated for the Trajan Langdon Award.
According to the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame, the Trajan Langdon Award is awarded annually to “a person or group of people who have demonstrated leadership, integrity and sportsmanship during the past year and positively influenced and inspired others to be better sportsmen or sportswomen.” There are both youth and adult divisions of the award.
The other finalists in this year’s youth division are Wrangell wrestler Della Churchill and Nome basketball player Finn Gregg. Finalists are chosen by the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame’s board of directors.
According to reporting by the Alaska Sports Report, Snaric was born with Poland Syndrome, a birth defect that impacted muscle growth on the left side of his upper body. The condition hasn’t kept him from enjoying and doing well in sports. According to Alaska Sports Report, he played defensive back and wide receiver for Homer’s state championship team and was named the Division III defensive player of the year.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 16, and honored on Thursday, June 5, as part of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the Anchorage Museum.
