Virginia Mae Marx, 90, died Sept. 30, 2014, at South Peninsula Hospital.
A celebration of life was held Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, in the Art Shop Gallery on Pioneer Avenue. Her ashes were scattered at Bishop’s Beach.
Virginia came to Homer in 1977. She worked at the Pratt Museum from 1978-2007 and served on the South Peninsula Hospital Board. She loved cooking and collecting cook books.
“Virginia Marx led a life full of kindness for others and dedication to her family and community. Moving to Alaska in 1977, she was a member of the Pratt staff until 2007. Virginia was active on the hospital board and library board, and assisted with numerous local charities,” her family said.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley R. Marks; her son, Wesley Marks Jr., and her granddaughter, Marya Marks.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Warren Fleming of Crowheart, Wyo.; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Barbara Marks of Gig Harbor, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Karin Marks of Homer; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
