Shirley Louise Miller

Shirley Louise Miller, 90, of Anchor Point, Alaska died on July 4, 2017 at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer, Alaska.
Shirley was born April 19, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Herman Carl and Blanche (White) Simshauser.
After high school, Shirley married and was a proud military spouse. For a time, she worked for the San Diego Yacht Club and became a Red Cross volunteer. She was a member of the NCOA Wife’s Club, received the Distinguished Service Award from the Alaska Mental Health Association and a Florida Deep Sea Fishing Award.
She enjoyed reading, playing games, puzzles and penny slot machines. She loved to camp, fish, travel and cook.
Her family said, “Mom, we will always miss you and love you. Thank you for being your wonderful self and giving us the very special privilege of knowing and loving you.”
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, George T. Miller; sons, Tom O. Miller of Anchorage, Herman Anderson of New Castle, Colo., and John Anderson of Kimbelton, Ohio; daughters, Jeannie Smith of Anchorage and Tammy Radomski of Hemet, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and counting.
A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be 11 a.m., Aug. 22, 2017 at Mountain Shadows RV Resort in Hemet, Calif.
