Sheldon “Tom” Hallett
July 27, 1964 – Aug. 17, 2014
Former Homer resident Sheldon “Tom” Hallett died Aug. 17, 2014, in St. Paul, Minn., after a long illness. Tom was born July 27, 1964, and moved to Homer in 1969 with his parents and his sister Tracy. He was an accomplished writer and interviewer of many musicians in multiple genres. He loved music and had an extensive collection of CDs, DVDs, tapes and vinyl records. He was part of a duo of music loving brothers in Indiana and hosted his own radio show featuring music of all times and kinds.
He had an online musical review column, and posted many astute and interesting articles on new artists, established artists and new recordings. He loved to help new bands by getting their music out to the public. In 2006 and 2007 he was a DJ for several of Homer’s bars and at private parties.
“Tom had a huge heart and loved to help those less fortunate,” his family said. “He is, and will be, missed by many relatives and friends from Alaska to the Lower 48.”
Most of all, he will be missed by his best friend, Linda Hallett; his son, Bryan Hallett; his sister, Tracy Baer, and his mother, Sharon Shears.
