Shawn L. Baker, 50, of Weed, Calif., was tragically taken from us on April 24, 2013.
Services were held 4 p.m. May 3, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Shasta, Calif. Mount Shasta Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Shawn was born April 4, 1963, in Albuquerque, N.M., and is a former resident of Anchor Point and Camarillo, Calif. He has been a Siskiyou County resident for the past 14 years.
Shawn served in the U.S. Navy and it was there where he met and married the love of his life, Tammie. Shawn was a devoted and involved husband, father and friend. He enjoyed traveling, wood working, riding his quad bike, climbing, fishing, boating, water sports, helping others and just being active. Shawn always had a smile, a friendly hello for anyone he passed and is remembered for his sense of humor and always having a good time with his friends.
He immensely enjoyed working with his Caltrans family for the last 12 years and he was on the job doing what he loved when he died.
“He was very proud of his children and their accomplishments, and was a loving, caring man who will be missed greatly by all who knew him,” his family said.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Tammie, and their four children, Hilary, Mariah, Weston and Quinton; by his parents, Linda and George “Bud” Baker of Mansfield, Pa.; brothers, Tom and wife Stephanie of Columbus, Ga., Robert and wife Stephanie of Wenatchee, Wash., and Eric of Tennant, Calif.; sister, Colleen Sparkman and husband Chris of Beverly, Mass.; father- in-law, James and wife Sandra Romines of Mojave, Ariz.; mother-in-law, Clare and husband Tony Merriman of Camarillo, Calif.; and many more extended family. Shawn was preceded in death by his son, Tristan Coy Baker.
