Robert Hardy

Homer resident Robert “Red” Hardy died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. He was 78. A memorial services was held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Immanuel Baptist Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Pastors Ray Boutwell and Glen Harbaugh officiated. He was buried June 4, 2013, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. 

Mr. Hardy was born June 12, 1934, in Los Angeles. Originally from California, he moved to Eagle River in 1971, later moving to Homer in 1984. He was a Korean War veteran. The family wrote, “‘Red’ was well known in Homer, Kenai and Soldotna. He was very generous, often opening his home and his heart to those in need. He was devoted to his family and friends, his church and the Lord. He will be missed by all.”

He is survived by his three children, Robert, Patrick and Mary-Bridget; six grandchildren; three brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations can be made to Homer Independent Baptist Church or Immanuel Baptist Church in Kenai. Arrangements were made by Janssen’s Evergreen Memorial Chapel in Anchorage.
