Marion Louise Browning

Longtime Homer resident Marion Louise Browning, 100, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.
Funeral services will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at Glacierview Baptist Church, 960 East End Road in Homer. A public viewing will be held from 11-11:50 a.m. just prior to services. Pastor Rick Wise will officiate. Pallbearers will include Sean Cude, Nathan Wise, Kyle Pierce, Dan Gardner, Jake Wise and Todd Martin.
Marion was born June 17, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York. She completed the 10th grade in high school. She moved to Alaska back in 1948. She lived in Anchorage from 1948 to 1949 before moving to Homer where she has lived ever since. Marion was a member of Grace Baptist Church/ Glacierview Baptist Church in Homer.
Her family writes, “Marion was an avid reader and loved crocheting. She loved to sing, especially Irish songs, popular songs of the 30s, 40s, and 50s, and Gospel hymns. When she saw Homer for the first time she exclaimed ‘I Love It’ and continued to do so for the rest of her life. Marion’s greatest joy came from knowing Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior — the One she loved and served for over 70 years.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene V. Browning; son-in-law, Bobby R. Cude; grandsons, Chase A. Cude and David D. Browning; parents, George and Emma Wild; and siblings, George, Harold, John, Arthur, Evelyn, Dorothy and Eleanor.
She is survived by her sons Robert W. (Brenda) Browning of Manchester, Missouri, Eugene “Lee” (Connie) Browning of Anchorage, Arthur G. Browning of Seattle, Washington, John D. (Linda) Browning of The Villages, Florida, and Phillip “Barry” (Debra) Browning of Tallahassee, Florida; daughters, Marilyn G. (Jim) Williams of Safety Harbor, Florida and Dixie L. (Browning) Cude of Soldotna; grandchildren, Mark Browning, Brian Browning, Shelby (Browning) Berg, Brent Williams, Jon Williams, Lori (Browning) Fisher, Shawna Browning, David M. Browning, Candace (Browning) Blair, Ryan Browning, Sean Cude, Kimberly (Cude) Pierce, John Chamberlain, Selicia Marik and Lara Pella; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
