Longtime Alaskan and Soldotna resident Marilyn Margaret Breakfield, 85, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Soldotna Senior Center, 197 W. Park Ave. in Soldotna. Pastor Frank Alioto will officiate. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Soldotna Community Memorial Park.
Marilyn was born June 23, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri and was a high school graduate. She moved to Alaska in 1962 and resided in Homer. There, she worked as a secretary for PUD, as a tax collector and bookkeeper for the City of Homer, as a secretary for East Elementary School (now Paul Banks), and as a manager for Alaska Aeronautical.
Marilyn was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed fishing, sewing, cooking and canning salmon.
Her family wrote, “She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.”
Marilyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Wooley, and grandson, Joe Wooley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Breakfield Sr. of Soldotna; sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Kathy Breakfield of Portland, Oregon, and Jeff and Pamela Breakfield of Soldotna; grandchildren, Corey and Melodie Breakfield of Portland, Oregon, and Natalee Taylor and husband Chris of Portland, Maine, Amy Hart and husband Dan of Anchorage, and Ben Breakfield of Soldotna; great-granddaughter, Riley Breakfield of Soldotna; her sister, Nona Hogue of Kailua, Hawaii; and many nieces and nephews.
