Lora “L.E.” Ellen Jones Logsdon

Homer resident, Ms. Lora “L.E.” Ellen Jones Logsdon, 77, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017 at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.
A celebration of her life will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at the American Legion in Homer.
Lora was born Dec. 8, 1939 in Zeigler, Illinois.
She graduated high school and furthered her education by receiving a bachelor degree.
In 1967 she moved to Alaska living in Fairbanks from 1967 to 1986 before moving to Homer where she has lived ever since.
L.E. worked and owned The Figure Salon from 1965-1967 and was a union bartender from 1967-1993. She also worked several years as a cook at a fly-in fish and moose camp, which was her favorite job.
L.E. was a long-term care volunteer from 2008–2012 and also worked as a PCA from 2009-2017. She was a cook up until the end and was involved a lot with Hospice.
Lora loved oil painting, drawing, wrote poetry, starred as Pipeline Fanny in Fairbanks and also loved to read and party.
The family wrote, “Her daughter Kelly thanks her mom for her wit and sense of humor.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Jones; and daughter, Rhoni Logsdon.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelly L. (Brian) Hutchinson of Homer and Lora D. Logsdon of Fairbanks; brother, Ennis D. Jones of Trego, Montana; grandchildren, Jon Kyle, Gary, Kelly, Amanda, Lacey and Jamie; nine great-grandchildren; and friends too many to mention. L.E. Loved and was loved by many in Fairbanks and Homer. Special shout out to S.N., G.P., M.C., J.Y, C.K., A.K., T.H. and G.W.
Memorial donations will be accepted in memory of L.E. at the celebration of her life at the American Legion.
