Linda H. Baker, 86, of Roseville, PA, passed peacefully with family on January 6, 2023. She was born October 29, 1936, in Mansfield, PA, the daughter of Thomas and Louise Palmer Harris.
She is survived by sons, Thomas (Stephanie) Baker of GA; Robert (Stephanie) Baker of MT; Eric (Virginia) Baker of CA; daughter-in-law, Tammie Baker of CA; and daughter, Colleen (Christopher) Sparkman of MA; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Anne (Philip) Clark of Roseville, PA; Alene York of Roseville, PA; and Ellen (Curt) Dreese of AZ. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bud (George), in 2015 and her son, Shawn Baker, in 2013.
Following graduation from Mansfield Senior High, Linda attended Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD, graduating in 1957; later she earned a B.S.N. from St Joseph’s College of Maine. During her nursing career she worked at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira, NY, Mission Hospital in Espanola, NM, and Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Linda and her husband, Bud, lived in New Mexico for 22 years and later followed their dream to Alaska where they made a home for 17 years. Linda continued nursing in Alaska as a school nurse in various elementary schools, Director of Nursing at Homer Hospital, and as a Hospital Surveyor for the State of Alaska.
Throughout her life, Linda shared her musical gift at the piano, as a soloist and accompanist. After she returned to the family home in Roseville in 1996, she continued her music ministry as the pianist for both Roseville and Mainesburg United Methodist Churches, taking over from her mother following her death.
A memorial service will be held later at the Roseville United Methodist Church. Donations in Linda’s name can be made to Roseville United Methodist Church or Mainesburg United Methodist Church.
