Leonard John Gross

Longtime Alaskan and Homer resident Leonard John Gross, 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care.
A private service was held in his honor. Len was born May 23, 1933, in Grassy Lake, Canada. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and had lived in Fairbanks and Anchorage before settling in Homer. He retired in 1974. Len enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, golfing and fixing anything that needed it.
His family wrote, “Len was a loving husband and father. He was (a) self-reliant man who if anything needed done, he got it done. Len was always ready to help a friend or neighbor in need and has passed these qualities on to his sons.”
Len was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Gross, brothers, Loren and Howard, and a sister Myrna.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia, of Homer; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Melodie of Anchorage and Jerry and Billie of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews living all over.
The family prefers memorial donations to be sent to South Peninsula Hospital Long Term Care, 4300 Bartlett St., Homer, AK 99603.
