Joanne Rogers, 84, died Oct. 25, 2017, in Mesa, Arizona. Joanne was born in Cashmere, Washington, in 1933. Her education as a teacher and her natural sense of adventure took her to teaching assignments in Germany and the states of Washington and Alaska. She lived many years in Homer, and she referred to it often as “home.” She later retired in Apache Junction, Arizona. She loved to travel, read, cook, craft, organize events in her community and make friends wherever she would go. Her greatest legacy is the countless lives that she touched with her compassion, very special brand of positivity and unwavering faith.
She is survived by her daughters Karyl and Kimmile and son-in-law Jim; niece Lori; nephew Devin; cousins, Clark, Ardis and David; great granddaughters, Ashley and Alecia; great nephew, Joshua; great niece, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Violet, Solomon, Ana and Toby; and great-great nieces Marissa, Fiona and Sara.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Sunday Nov. 26, 2017, at the Apache Estates East Clubhouse in Apache Junction, Arizona. A private burial will follow in 2018 in Cashmere, Washington.
