Jerry Duane Cupp

Nov. 8, 1947-April 30, 2016

Jerry Duane Cupp passed away April 30, 2016 at home in Homer after a 13-year battle with multiple sclerosis. He was 68.

Jerry was born to Clayton “Bud” Cupp and Wilma Day Cupp in McCloud, Calif., on Nov. 8, 1947. Jerry was the youngest of three sons.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, two daughters, Nancy Duncan, her husband Byran, granddaughter Mary all of Yreka, Calif., and Sarah Parker, her husband Steve, grandson Jared, granddaughter Sadie Jo all of Liberty Lake Wash., and stepson Jimmie Lucero of Anchorage. He was preceded in death by his father Clayton “Bud,” mother Wilma, and brothers Cecil and Clayton.

 Jerry graduated from Hayfork High School in 1966 and immediately went to work for Golden West Telephone. He retired in 1997 after 28 years of working in the telephone industry, and then moved to Alaska to enjoy retirement. Anyone who met Jerry would soon know of his love for fishing, flying and hunting. As long as Jerry was able to he would be at the local fishing hole or out on a boat.

 “What wonderful memories we have been left with when we look back at all the outdoor activities that Jerry was able to participate with even after his diagnosis,” wrote his family.

Some of his greatest adventures included flying the Alaska Highway four times in a private airplane. He was a private pilot for 18 years.

Per his request there will be no services. His ashes will be laid to rest at a later date with the rest of his family in Hayfork, Calif..
