Jeanne Ashment See, 60, passed away Feb. 26, 2013, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Wash. A memorial service is at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Grace Bible Church in the Kachemak Community Center, East End Road and Bear Creek Drive.

Jeanne was born Jan. 20, 1953, in Soap Lake, Wash., to Joy and Norman See. She was raised in Bridgeport, Wash., and graduated from high school there with honors in 1973. She was active in Rainbow Girls and served as Worthy Advisor of Bridgeport Assembly No. 111. Jeanne was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors. She attended Washington State University, graduating Cum Laude in 1975. While in Pullman, she was director of the Rape Crisis Center and was appointed to the National YWCA Board, where she served for four years. 

On Oct. 1, 1977, she married her college sweetheart, Tabor Ashment, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Erma and Wilfred Shaw in Bridgeport. Jeanne and Tabor made their home in Homer, where they owned The Sport Shed and charter the Lucky Lady. She worked by his side for 35 years, on a boat, picking fish and balancing the books, until poor health prevented her active participation.

She is survived by her husband, Tabor Ashment of Homer; mother, Joy Cundiff of Wenatchee; father, Norman See of Sandpoint, Idaho; brother, Michael (Jane) See of Bridgeport; nieces, Jessi (Geno) Rosellini of Seattle, Lexi (Kyle) Bailey of Olympia, Wash., and Danna Peat of Post Falls, Idaho; nephew, Chancy Humborg of the Brewster/Bridgeport area; and two great-nephews, Gavin Rosellini and Tristan Bailey.
