Homer resident Mr. Glenn Allen Traugott, 58, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in his home from a heart attack.
At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, there will be a viewing with a funeral mass being celebrated at noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Homer. A reception will follow.
He was a resident and business owner in Homer for 21 years. In 1992, he moved his family from Ojai, Calif., to Homer, Alaska. At Mile 5 East End Road, he built his home and his business, Glenn’s Welding, from the ground up, fulfilling a long-time dream. His family grew to include nine children: Elaine (Inman), Sadie (married to Steve Fisher), Rita (married to Paul Revesz), Sam (engaged to Amy Schille), Nathan (married to Elizabeth), Marie, Adam, John Paul and Peter. In 1995 he welcomed his little sister Sherri into his home and provided her with a warm and caring family and home. He also enjoyed the love of his 18 grandchildren: Amelia, Samantha, Andrea, Ginger, Miranda, and Catherine Inman, Clarissa Cole, Joseph, Celine, Dominic, Anthony and Gabriel Fisher, Hugh, Gianna, Vincent and Eli Traugott, and Theresa and Thomas Revesz. The one thing that Glenn loved as much as his family was his Catholic faith. He had a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and so it was fitting that he died on her feast day.
Glenn was always positive, kind and generous. He continually helped those in need, including opening his home to friends and family to stay for as long as they needed. He loved his Friesian horses, and always was excited to share that joy with others. Glenn was very creative and enjoyed designing and building his creations with his sons. His family is comforted to remember that Glenn lived a life full of love and faith, and that he is now being rewarded for his faithfulness to his Heavenly Father.
