On May 28, 2022, Fred Yenney went to his heavenly home.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Christian Community Church, with a reception to follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Down East Saloon.
He was born in Nome, Alaska, to Margaret Becker and Fred Yenney Sr. After the death of his mother, the family moved to Anchorage. He joined the Alaska and the United States Army National Guard and worked at the White Alice sites up north. He worked in Homer at the Ohlson Mountain Nike site. In 1969 he opened Fred’s Volkswagen in Anchorage until 1986. In 1977 he moved with his family to Homer with Yenney & Associates Construction and Equipment Rental. He was the best husband and father and was known for his generosity.
He was a member of the Homer Elks and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eileen (Lee); sons, David and Fred; daughter, Louann; grandchildren, Daylynn and Christian; and his sisters, Jean Yenney and Velma Tonkin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Yenney Sr.; mother, Margaret Yenney; stepmother, Pat Yenney; and sisters, Kay Downs, Peggy Perry and Alice Doyle.
