Eugene LeRoy Loop, 82, died peacefully Sunday morning, Dec. 21, 2014, at his home in Anchor Point surrounded by his immediate family.
Per Eugene’s request, he was cremated and will be buried with his family in Washington. A service will be held in Homer at St. John’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. March 14, 2015.
He was born Jan. 5, 1932, in Burlington, Wash. and raised on George Loop Road, Samish Island, Wash.
He was blessed with four girls and two boys. From his first family, he fathered Barbara Shirlene, Gwenda Maudene, Deborah Georgene and Rodney Eugene. From his second family, he fathered Heidi Marie and Daniel George. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel George, in 2008. All of his other children survive him, as do his five grandchildren, Rachael, Adam, Jacob, Chloe and Nevaeh; and his five great-grandchildren Madison, Xavier, Rosi, Josi and Nathaniel, all children of his oldest grandchild, Rachael.
His children wrote this about their father: “Our dad was a character loved by many. In his youth, he was a football and basketball player and later, a sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and watching football. He was always smiling. He was a number one loving father with a loyal heart and a colossal life compass for his family. Possessing a wonderful sense of humor, dad was filled with joy, saying hello with a chuckle in his voice and with a joke to share. So tender hearted was his nature that he never wanted to say good-bye but instead, God bless you. God bless you, Daddy, we love you so.”
The family thanks Linda Wagner for the support she gave Eugene and his family throughout his life, including his illness and death. “She has been a support and friend to all of us and we can never thank her enough” wrote the family. The family also mentioned Dennis and Marcella Dustin, Steve and Sherry Kalander, Susie Pullen, and the Pointer family, all who have been long-term friends to Eugene and his family. The family also thanked the entire Consumer Direct staff and Dr. Bill Bell for their support.
