Deidre McCombs

Longtime Ninilchik resident, Mrs. Deidre McCombs, 63, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at her home in Ninilchik.
Private services were held at her home in Ninilchik.
Deidre was born Aug. 30, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated high school and furthered her education by receiving a bachelor degree in teaching. She moved to Alaska in 1960, where she grew up in Eagle River. She taught at Squaw Harbor, Sand Point and was a tutor and sub at the Ninilchik School for kindergarten to 12th grade for many years. Deidre also was a waitress at the Inlet View Café.
The family wrote, “My wife and I met in Sand Point. She was a school teacher and I was a carpenter. We reunited in the summer in Ninilchik. Eventually we settled into employments and built a house together and married in 1984. Deidre had a gift shop in the Village, selling original handmade items. We started a family and she loved and raised our girls Maureen and Leslie. In recent times, she spent summers at the Port of Kenai as Office Manager for Cooper River Seafoods.”
She was preceded in death by her father, George Olson and grandson, Fisher Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, John McCombs of Ninilchik; daughters, Maureen Todd of Ninilchik and Leslie McCombs of Ninilchik; granddaughter, Evalynne Todd of Ninilchik; brothers, Garth (Martha) Olson of Anchorage, Quinten (Kim) Olson of Poulsbo, Washington, Rory (Karen) Olson of Poulsbo, Washington, Todd (June) Olson of Anchorage, and Geoffery (Sandy) Olson of Ninilchik; nieces, Emily, Miriam, Naomi, Jessica and Sophie; nephew, Bart; mother, Geraldine Olson of Eagle River; aunt, Betty Richmond of James Town, New York; son in-laws, Garrett Todd of Ninilchik and Grey Wilson of Ninilchik; father in-law, Chuck McCombs of Lynwood, Washington; brother in-law, Steve (Joyce) McCombs of Delta Junction, and Don (Sidney) McCombs of Seattle, Washington; nephews, Brett and Dan both of Seattle, Washington, and Dave (Tawnya) of Delta Junction; and great-nephew, Trek.
