David Elmer Schei, a longtime resident of Alaska, died March 11, 2013. He was 59 years old. David currently resided in Fairbanks and had previously spent many years in Homer. 

He was born April 10, 1953, to Helen (Ludvigson) and Elmer Schei. He is survived by his son, Justin Schei, of Enumclaw, Wash.; siblings, Judy Schei Barrows, of Marysville, Wash., Daniel Schei of Rockport, Wash., and John Schei of Yakima, Wash.

“David was a cherished and beloved member of his community and extended his grace and support to everyone he met. He never turned his back to someone in need. Instead he embraced them with open arms,” his family said. “White light, guiding light.”
