David Allen Hunt

Former longtime Homer resident David Allen Hunt, 59, died Oct. 11, 2015, at home in Tucson, Ariz., with partner Kathleen Jamsa by his side.
Born Dec. 9, 1955, in Merced, Calif., David moved to Homer with his parents Roy and Elsie Hunt in 1958 at the age of 3 where the family homesteaded at the Y at 8 mile (halfway between Anchor Point and Homer). David attended schools in Homer and graduated from Homer High School in 1974. He attended the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and Anchorage.
David was an avid reader, always with a book in hand and had a passion for travel and adventure, doing a cross-country solo motorcycle trip from Seattle to Florida. He married in 1984 (Sandra) and moved to Grants Pass, Ore., where they owned a sheep farm on the Rogue River. As a chef on offshore oil platforms, his work took him to Africa, South America and Iraq. He lived in Valencia, Spain, for six years and traveled extensively throughout Europe, In 2006 he moved to Bisbee, Ariz., where he spent the last nine years of his life.
David was preceded in death by his mother Elsie Hunt-Terry of Homer, sister Linda (Lowe) of Anchorage and father Roy Hunt (Idaho). He is survived by Kathleen Jamsa and siblings Ron, Peggy McLay, Carol Lima and Mary Clark.
No formal memorial is planned. Friends are welcome to remember David when they walk along Bishops Beach, one of his favorite places.
