Charles ‘Chuck’ Mohn

Anchor Point resident, Mr. Charles “Chuck” Mohn, 62, died after a long term illness on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at his home in Anchor Point with his wife by his side.

Memorial services to honor Chuck will be held at a later date.

He was born Oct. 12, 1951, in Onawa, Iowa. He came to Alaska with his parents Harold and Joan Mohn in 1957.

He retired from the state of Alaska, moved to Oregon and then back to Alaska out to Adak, where he and Kathy ran several businesses and he was the mayor of Adak for a short time. 

“He was respected and loved wherever he was living. He was a man of his word and would help anyone that needed it. He will be missed by all that knew him,” his family said.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Harold Mohn, in May of 1965; stepfather, Jim Howard, in February of 2008 and brother, Larry Mohn, in May of 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mohn; mother, Joan Howard; brother, Dennis Mohn, all of Anchor Point; three sisters, Barbara Lewis, Twila Mayes and Laura Hughes and husband Mike, all of Big Springs, Texas; brother-in-law, Lee Simmons, of Anchorage; step-brother, Jimmy Howard, and wife Sandy; step-sisters, Diane Price and Rhonda Smith and husband Scott, of Arizona; son, David Mohn, and grandsons, Justin and Jason Mohn; daughter, Diane, and husband, Ron Simonds, and grandson Damian Simonds, of Oregon; step-daughters, Vickie Miller, and husband, Steve, of Texas, and Michelle Elmquist of Nevada; several nieces and nephews, Tania Clucas of Alaska, Wendy, Amy, and Amber Mayes, Aaron Hughes, Krystal Hughes Edmiston and Coby and great niece Kaylee Edmiston all of Texas; and several step-nieces and nephews that loved him as well.
