Carl Frederick “Fred” Bannick was a familiar face around Homer. He passed away Nov. 20, 2012. His family is holding a memorial service and military service for him at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the Seafarer’s Memorial on the Spit. A potluck gathering follows at 5 p.m. at Kharacter’s.

“Come one, come all; bring your favorite Fred stories and a dish to pass;” his family said. “Fred was an amazing cook, so do him proud.”
