A Crowley Solutions barge with Furie Alaska equipment is anchored in Kachemak Bay last Thursday. Equipment for Furie’s Kitchen Lights monopod well arrived in the bay on Sept. 9. The monopod will be set over Furie’s Kitchen Lights unit number 3 well in Cook Inlet about 20 miles north of Nikiski. Crowley has several barges with Furie equipment in the bay.
Because the barges have been in the Kachemak Bay Critical Habitat area more than 14 days, a Special Area Permit is required. Crowley has applied for a permit and it is being reviewed by state agencies, said Patti Berkhahn, an Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist with the Habitat Division.
