United Fishermen of Alaska, the largest commercial fishing industry representative group in the state, is calling for a new executive director.
A Sept. 1 press release clarifies the position is open until being filled with a new applicant.
Causes for the new leadership change are unknown.
The executive director position is a salaried position with benefits including a 3 percent IRA match and medical, dental and vision health insurance plan with Health Savings Account contribution.
The executive director is the chief administrative officer of the organization. The executive director must maintain a thorough understanding of all UFA business and activities in order to assist the UFA president, the executive committee and the board of directors in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating positions, programs and courses of action.
The executive director’s duties will include lobbying for the commercial fishing industry with Alaska elected officials, prepare draft or press releases and organization statements, present UFA positions in public speaking engagements including regulatory meetings, plan and coordinate UFA’s two annual meetings, and supervise office staff.
