When will Alaska be rid of its seriously conflicted lieutenant governor? How much longer will Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell abuse his position and continue to pocket his $115,000 salary while he travels nonstop to campaign fundraisers Outside and neglects his duties? 

How long will Alaska’s leaders remain silent about Treadwell’s sardonic situation and do nothing to resolve the conflicts between Treadwell’s official duties to oversee and certify statewide elections and ballots and his personal desire to be the next Alaska U.S. senator? 

Former DNR Commissioner Dan Sullivan understood the inherent conflicts that exist between a sitting state official who makes and implements policy while he runs for statewide office. He resigned. 

Treadwell should take his cue from Sullivan and not deceive the public with the clashes his conflicts generate. He needs to stop misusing the esteemed lieutenant governor’s office and position for personal political gain and place the integrity of our elections and its processes above his personal wishes. 

Treadwell must resign — now — and provide Alaska a fair and unbiased electoral process, free from corruption and free from his personal conflicts.
