I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the Tin Roof Fund at the Homer Foundation for awarding me with the 2016 Beluga Tail Fiction Writing Scholarship. The Homer Foundation works tirelessly to ensure that nonprofits, organizations and yes, eager young high school graduates have the resources to succeed.

This $3,000 award will enable me to cover the costs of my first year of college with the money I will earn this summer — without relying on outside loans. When I depart for the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, I will be thinking of Homer’s constant generosity that has enabled me to chase my theatre geek dreams.

Thank you again, Homer Foundation, for fueling the youth of Homer- it makes a monumental difference.
