Author and scientist Dr. David Montgomery will speak at Cook Inletkeeper’s 17th annual “Splash Bash,” a free, public event with food, music and information celebrating clean water and healthy salmon, and recognizing Inletkeeper’s members and supporters.
The bash will be held at Bishops Beach pavilion from 6-8 p.m. today.
Montgomery is the author of “King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon.” He is a professor in the University of Washington’s Department of Earth and Space Sciences. His work was recognized by the MacArthur Foundation’s “Genius Award” in 2008, which characterized his work as “unsettling conceived wisdom about environmental change in both the local and global levels,” according to a press release issued by Cook Inletkeeper.
While on the Kenai Peninsula, Montgomery will play with his band “Big Dirt” at Salmonstock at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds on Aug. 2.
